Parent-Teen Counselling
Parent-teen dynamics are complex. Teens naturally begin to assert their needs and wants more strongly, as they prepare for greater independence. However, constant fights and conflicts of interest can be stressful for all involved.
The goal of counselling is to deepen an understanding and appreciation of the different needs and wants of individual family members and to shift the parent/teen relationship from one of authority to one of negotiation, compromise, and increased independence.
A counsellor can mediate negotiation with fairness on all sides, working towards an increased understanding of individual perspectives. To learn more about parent/teen conflict, click here.
