Walk & Talk Therapy

At Validity Counselling, we understand that healing doesn’t always have to happen inside four walls. That’s why we’re proud to offer the option of Walk & Talk Therapy — a gentle, movement-based approach to counselling that takes place outdoors.

Walk & Talk Therapy blends traditional talk therapy with the soothing rhythm of walking in nature. Instead of having sessions in office, you and your counsellor can meet at a peaceful outdoor location to walk while you talk. Natural settings can help ease the pressure or discomfort that some clients feel with face-to-face conversation and promote relaxation and a greater sense of emotional openness.

Several local parks are located near our office: Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, with its gentle river views; Cottonwood Island Park, with shaded trails winding among old cottonwood trees; and Connaught Hill, offering panorama views of the city.

For many clients, being in motion helps thoughts flow more freely. The combination of fresh air, physical activity, and therapeutic conversation can reduce anxiety, lift mood, and bring a sense of grounding and clarity.

This approach is ideal for clients who feel more comfortable moving than sitting still, who enjoy being outdoors, or who are curious to try something different in their healing journey. As always, your pace and comfort level guide the session — both emotionally and physically.
