Online Group Supervision for Clinical Counsellors
Professional Growth, Clinical Excellence, and Community Connection
Validity Counselling is pleased to offer online group clinical supervision for counsellors, providing an affordable, accessible, and engaging opportunity for professional growth. We are now welcoming counsellors from outside our agency to join our supervision teams.
Whether you are a new clinician building confidence, an experienced practitioner seeking consultation on complex cases, or a counsellor looking for meaningful professional connection, our small-group supervision model offers a rich learning environment designed to support your ongoing development.
Groups are intentionally limited to five participants to ensure every member has the opportunity to actively engage, present cases, receive feedback, and develop their clinical skills.
Why Clinical Supervision Matters
Clinical supervision is one of the most important investments counsellors can make in their professional development and the quality of care they provide to clients.
Effective supervision can help clinicians:
-
Strengthen clinical skills and intervention strategies
-
Improve case conceptualization and treatment planning
-
Increase confidence in clinical decision-making
-
Navigate ethical and professional challenges
-
Reduce professional isolation
-
Prevent burnout and compassion fatigue
-
Enhance self-awareness and reflective practice
-
Improve client outcomes
The counselling profession is constantly evolving, and even experienced clinicians benefit from opportunities to receive feedback, explore new perspectives, and refine their therapeutic approach.
The Advantages of Group Supervision
While individual supervision offers personalized support, group supervision provides unique benefits that are difficult to replicate in one-to-one consultation.
Learn from Diverse Perspectives
Every counsellor brings different training, experiences, and strengths to the group. Exposure to multiple viewpoints can broaden your clinical thinking and introduce new approaches to working with clients.
Shared Learning Opportunities
Many valuable learning moments occur when listening to and participating in discussions about cases presented by other clinicians. Often, the challenges faced by one counsellor resonate with others in the group.
Reduce Professional Isolation
Counselling can sometimes feel like solitary work, particularly for clinicians in private practice or smaller communities. Group supervision creates opportunities for professional connection, support, and collaboration with colleagues who understand the realities of clinical work.
Cost-Effective Professional Development
Group supervision provides access to high-quality clinical consultation and skill development at a lower cost than individual supervision, making ongoing professional growth more accessible and sustainable.
Build Confidence Through Practice
Participants have opportunities to strengthen their clinical skills through discussion, role-play, case consultation, experiential exercises, and constructive feedback in a supportive environment.
Addressing a Need in Prince George and Northern BC
Many counsellors in Prince George and throughout Northern British Columbia face challenges accessing supervision that is affordable, collaborative, and available on a regular basis.
Private practitioners, clinicians working in rural communities, recent graduates, and counsellors seeking specialized consultation often encounter barriers such as:
-
Limited local supervision opportunities
-
Scheduling challenges
-
Geographic distance
-
High costs associated with individual supervision
-
Professional isolation
-
Difficulty finding supervision that aligns with their therapeutic approach
Our online format helps remove many of these barriers, allowing counsellors to access quality supervision from the comfort of their home or office without the need to travel.

Our Approach: The SEED Model
Our supervision process is grounded in the SEED Model of Supervision, developed by Bradley and Lucas.
The SEED model emphasizes experiential learning, psychological flexibility, and deliberate skill development through four key components:
Safe Space to Be Curious
Effective supervision begins with creating an environment where clinicians feel safe to ask questions, explore uncertainty, discuss challenges, and reflect openly on their clinical work.
Exploring Context and Function
Rather than focusing solely on client symptoms or behaviours, we examine the context and function underlying those experiences, helping counsellors develop deeper and more flexible case conceptualizations.
Experiential Learning
Learning is enhanced through direct experience. Supervision sessions may incorporate role-plays, mindfulness exercises, metaphors, experiential activities, and guided reflection to deepen understanding and strengthen clinical skills.
Deliberate Practice
Research consistently shows that expertise develops through intentional practice and feedback. Participants have opportunities to practice interventions, receive constructive feedback, and refine their therapeutic skills in a supportive environment.
Professional Development and Supervision Hours
Group supervision is widely recognized as a valuable component of professional development and clinical growth within the counselling profession.
For counsellors pursuing registration, certification, professional development goals, or ongoing clinical consultation, participation in group supervision may contribute toward supervision, consultation, or continuing education requirements depending on the policies of their professional association, educational institution, or credentialing body.
Participants are encouraged to consult directly with their governing or certifying organization regarding specific requirements. We are happy to discuss our supervision model, facilitator qualifications, and documentation processes to help you determine whether this opportunity aligns with your professional goals.
